The large-scale complex communication network system is increasingly difficult for telecom operators, particularly in alarm processing. In the face of a pile of chaotic alarm, technical staffs need to identify the cause of these alarms and take corresponding measures to keep the network unimpeded quickly and accurately, which require staffs a high quality skill, moreover the processing efficiency of artificial analysis method can not meet the high reliability requirement of current communication network. In order to discovery, locate and deal with fault accurately and promptly, developing alarm correlation analysis tool that generates alarm correlation analysis tree, quickly and accurately locate root alarm and auxiliary alarm is an important mission to improve the network management system.In this paper, the basic concept of communication alarm and the construction of WCDMA network management system are introduced firstly, and then, through the process of alarm report, the alarm module software design of NE and network management system are both introduced separately. The alarm analysis tool WAA is the first key point of this paper, which is designed as OMC network management auxiliary tools, and mainly collects and analyzes alarms and other OMC data. The tools do alarm processing filtering and display through associating business data and configuration data, which can assist operators to focus on key alarms and quickly locate fault so that to solve it. The tool can release and run independently without the existing network management system. On-site data test proved that the tool could filter those alarms that operators don't need to concentrate on and assist operators to locate faults effectively. The tool reduced the number of alarms significantly and showed alarm information clearly. The Graphical User Interface (GUI) of the tool is simple clear and easily to operate, but for different equipments of different supporters, the alarm relativity rules might have a big difference, which will cause big error of alarm location, and cost a lot. In order to raise practicability, the Alarm Correlation algorithm in NE module is proposed and realized in this paper and working with WAA in practice of communication network system, which proved the feasibility and practicability of designation.
