Wireless sensor network is composed of lots of sensor nodes, which work together for acquiring, processing information, and transferring it to observers. Distinguished from traditional wireless networks, sensor networks are characterized of severe power, computation, communication bandwidth, and memory constraints. Due to the strict energy constraint, the Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols of sensor networks should be managed wisely to extend the lifetime of sensors. As the applications range of wireless sensor network is extended by the modern technology, the performances, such as delay, throughput and control overhead, are concerned by the researchers. So design a MAC protocol which accords the application is more and more important. This thesis is based on WSN. Firstly, the thesis introduced the basic concepts, and features of WSN. And then the research actuality is proposed. In order to improve the delay and control overhead of the ICMMP protocol, the author design another frame of the medium access, and proposes a new MAC protocol to acquire the two-phase code. Then, the delay performance of the multi-hop WSN is analyzed. By mapping the parameter of the physical layer to the data link layer, the efficiency bandwidth model is extended. And then the relationship between the delay, the maximum Doppler rate and the server rate are analyzed. Then, with the clustering and the model of the game theory, the author designs separately the minimum back off window adaptive mechanisms for optimizing the IEEE 802.11 DCF. Finally, the thesis summarizes the whole work the author does, and proposes the future work in this field.
