Instead of planting crops directly into the soil or media or growing them in a nutrient rich liquid solution, aeroponics relies upon applying a fine mist of nutrients and water directly onto the roots themselves. Aeroponics statisfies the requirement of water and fertilizer of the plant. The plant is typically suspended or supported in some manner and the roots allowed to grow freely in the air inside a closed chamber without contact with any substrate. A number of benefits are derived from using this production method and include:1)quicker production cycles are possible due to increased growth rates,2)no soil results in reduced soil-borne diseases,the foliage remains dry, again reducing disease potential,3)water and nutrient runoff is reduced due to recycling.Aeroponics is becoming more and more important in the production of agriculture.The aeroponics system is constructed by environment control equipment,irrigation in the closed chamber and recycling of nutrient.Environment control is the key technology of this system.Control system get date from separate nodes to regulate temperature,humidity and light intensity of the greenhouse,the temperature and humidity of inner chamber.It imitate the best environment of plant growing,to meet different requirement of plant growth and development.This paper designs a aeroponics control system based on high-performance AVR MCU.This system is composed of data acquisition,data transminssion,data process and motor control.Seperate nodes acquire the data which is interrelated to plant growing from chamber and greenhouse and transmit this data to the lower computer through RS485 bus.Lower computer processes this data comprehensively,estimates current condition of plant growing,and regulate plant growing condition based on this data.Besides,lower computer takes on the function of centralized management of related equipment and data communication control.In the condition of emergency affairs happening,Lower computer has another alternate scheme.Host computer acquire data from Lower computer in wireless mode,record plant growing process.The property of this system are 1)good human-machine interface,2)high stability,3)and fine universal property.Lower computer is emphasis of this system,all the data processing and condition estimating is finished by the lower computer.lt gets data which was acquired by the nodes through RS485bus,decides how long automatic fogging continues and other equipment start-up/shut-down.Host computer display all the data of chamber and greenhouse in real time with good human-machine interface.The basic principles of aeroponics and development course of aeroponics control system are firstly introduced. Then a more detail specification of hardware and software is brought forward. It stresses on the system's configuration of hardware and equipment, host computer software, data transmission and the way.It analyses some key issues which was turned out through practical debug,provides solving schemas for these issues.
