| With the development of science and technology today, more and more ways of communication have appeared. And the use of E-mail, cell-phone as well as QQ quickens the communication among people. As a contrast, letters--the traditional way of communication seems to have an insignificant place. Letters gradually disappear in people's daily life. Many students in secondary vocational schools are not able to write letters. This essay aims to explore the ways of improving the writing ability of letters on the basis of finding out the present writing situation of the secondary vocational school students as well as the existing problems appearing in the their letters. This essay originates in a large amount of survey which includes the instant writing of letters upon the random sampling, issue questionnaires and interviews. Through the results of the survey we can see that the present writing abilities of letters of the secondary vocational school students are not satisfactory. Those problems have their forms in the format of a letter and the use of the basic knowledge of language such as the wrongly written characters, the wrong sentences, the punctuation errors. After analysis, we can find out that the position of Chinese languages in the curriculum of the secondary vocational schools is of little significance. The students of the secondary vocational schools have a worse level of basic language knowledge, the insufficient of knowledge of letters and the rare use of letters in daily life. Confronting this situation the author puts forward some practical strategies. In view of this situation, the author made a number of practical strategies, which include how to enhance the students'writing skills and enhance their training for basic knowledge of language, as well as how to consolidate the students'writing level, thus to enhance the students'awareness's of language environment; then to integrate the students' abilities on letter-writing through the emphasis on the cultivation of the students'virtues and norms as well as the enhance on the students'basic knowledge about letters, the enhancement for them to write according to certain writing formats; while on the part of the teachers, they share the responsibility to improve the Letter-Writing teaching quality. As an educator in the secondary vocational school, the teacher should transfer part of their emphasis on the cultivation of professional skills to more time and space on the basic knowledge learning such as the Chinese curriculum learning. As the language teachers, they should increase the students'interest learning language courses, that is, not to remain at the level of teaching in the class, copying after-school, essay writing handing in to the teacher without the real abilities. We should stimulate the students'interest in letter-writing; lead the students to extract the beauty of letters and to make the letters as the extension of life. What matters most is to make the students in the secondary vocational school master the skills to write letters as the personal skills to meet the need in the working life, as the cultural heritage of the Chinese nation's correspondence... |
