English grammar teaching has been constantly a controversial issue in English teaching. Before the current curriculum reform, the transmission and explanation of knowledge about grammar used to be over-emphasized at the cost of ignorance the cultivation of the students'communicative competence. However, in the course of the current curriculum reform comes what is called desalination of grammar. Some teachers are even going to extremes by avoiding talking about grammar.Does the new curriculum tend to lower standardize senior English grammar teaching? In order to seek out the answer to this question, this thesis begins with the sufficient explanation of the necessity of senior English grammar teaching on the overview of English grammar. Then comes the main body of this thesis, which mainly focuses on the current trends of senior English grammar teaching as well as reflections on the problems via analyses on teachers'conception of teaching approaches, the comparison between SEFC(Senior English for China) and NSEC(New Senior English Curriculum), apart from the connection between the curriculum and the Standard. Based on the core of the curriculum standard, some tentative strategies of senior English grammar teaching and learning strategies are put forward in the ending part of this thesis. Firstly, transition from junior English to senior English grammar with increased guidance about learning strategies. Secondly, centralization, induction and comparison and breakthrough of difficult points of grammar. Thirdly, interesting and textual and situational teaching methods based on modern technology. Fourthly, interesting and extracurricular activities to expand learning opportunities. Lastly, task-based methods to promote students'comprehensive competence. Most of the above are embodied teaching cases.This thesis is just a tentative research based on a hands-on perspective, hopefully to be beneficial to the solving the existing problems in grammar teaching. There is still much room for further study. The ever-growing concern for and interest in the reform assures a good respect a sustainable development of senior English teaching.
