Emotion is an important aspect of human mental activity, it is an subjective experience accompanied by human understanding,practice and daily activities, it is also an spiritual power which is through the human physical,psychological and ideological activities.In modern ideological and political education, educators arouse the learners' positive emotional experience and the initiative to educate themselves through the emotional communication. Under this situation, people can transform the correct ideas into action based on mutual trust and respect. We call this emotional education. The concept of emotional education in the ideological and political education have two meanings:first, in the process of education, educators exchange the emotional information with the learners in order to arouse the same feelings which can make the learners' idea have a transformation towards the direction educators demand. Second, educators pass on to learners the knowledge which can develop the emotional world and realize the comprehensive development of emotional potential and form the sound character. The development of practice of modern ideological and political education has caused widespread concern. Discussing the meaning,characteristic,function of emotional education and studying on the content,method and revealing the mechanism and regular will be helpful with strengthening ideological and political education effectiveness. It also has important practical significance.Emotional education have some basic characteristics and certain functions. The basic characteristics of emotional education are as follow:infectiousness,permeability,compatibility and subjectivity. Emotional education has functions such as guiding function, shaping function,incentive function,regulation function. In the process of building a socialist harmonious society, according to the current status of emotional education, the content should include the following aspects:the view of family affection,love and friendship,the concept of honor and disgrace,life education,happiness education.In order to strengthen the emotional education in the modern ideological and political education, we need hard work from school,society and family, and it must follow some basic principles and constantly explore new methods. Implementation of the emotional education should follow three principles:people-oriented,equal communication,social practice. The methods include:stimulate emotion under specific situation and integrate emotion into specific situation, foster emotion and touch people with emotion, foster emotion with cognize and facilitate cognize with emotion, dominate emotion with will and foster will with emotion.Emotional education has its own operating mechanism and carrying out regulars. The operating mechanism includes:life mechanism,experience mechanism,situational mechanism and emotional recognition mechanism. The regulars to carry out emotional education include:emotional communication regular and combination of emotion and rationality regular.
