"the Great Reforms" And Revolutionary Terrorism

During his reign, the Tsar Alexanderâ…¡appointed a group of liberal officials, and carried out a series of reforms, which accelerated the rate of the capitalist development and modernization of Russia. But from the beginning of the reform in 1861, radical opposition appeared, expressed their opinions, strongly fought against the government without compromise. The terrorist activities used by opposition became more and more radical. At last, the Tsar was severely wounded by the terrorist's bomb and dead soon after. The radical intelligentsia tried to overthrow the government in order to make up a socialist society on the base of the village communes."The Great Reforms"and revolutionary terrorism came at the same time and developed together, which seemed as a special phenomena during Russian modernization. The causes of this phenomena include the social and historical background of that time, the conflict between tradition and modernization, and the character of Russian radical intelligentsia. Otherwise, this phenomena reflects the troubles underdeveloped countries will mostly face in the course of their modernization. This article is written to analyze the special historical phenomena at different stages of the reforms, so that to discuss its meanings to underdeveloped countries.
