Aiming at preserving and promoting the traditional Chinese Studies along with resistance of Westernization, a group of well-educated scholars in the traditional Chinese Studies struggled against Westernization under the leadership of Chen Ganyi, based on the magazine Qinghe as a front for the traditional Chinese Studies. The columns of Qinghe are mainly Chinese classics, poems, and investigations of literature with a strong sense of traditional Chinese. As for the authors, almost all of the 105 are the Southeastern Scholars with a solid foundation of Chinese culture. In ideology, Qinghe was classified into culture conservatism as well as school of quintessence Chinese culture, school of critic review and culture selfish departmentalism. However, Qinghe had its own sharp and unique characters, compared with other schools of culture conservatism. The author has an elaboration on its defects and historical contribution by a comparison with other schools of culture conservatism: As for its political belief, it believes in the academics to save China; As far as culture is concerned, It opposes total Westernization and holds for restoring what is ancient, through literature and the sorting of traditional Chinese literature, it strives to preserve traditional Chinese culture.
