Liu Qinghe’s Urban Ink Painting

Liu Qinghe has an irreplaceable and important position and value in the development of contemporary Chinese ink painting.He has been creating works on urban themes since 1984.In his works,the stories of urban characters from the last century to the present and the detailed depiction of urban people’s living conditions are not only his transformation of images by virtue of his personal life experience to express a realistic feeling of life,but also his intervention in real life with ink and wash,his concern for the present,reality and the times,and his expression of tapping into the urban spirit.This paper takes Liu Qinghe’s urban ink and wash as the center of study.After a brief overview of the development of urban ink and wash in China,it focuses on the origin of Liu Qinghe’s urban ink and wash,the evolution of the subject matter and the exploration of language,and analyzes the specific contents of Liu Qinghe’s urban ink and wash in detail.Secondly,from the perspective of artistic outlook and artistic language,the paper discusses the inspiration of Liu Qinghe’s urban ink and wash to the creation of contemporary ink and wash art.The thesis concludes by pointing out that Liu Qinghe’s urban ink and wash,with the excavation of the urban spirit as its core,reflects not only his personal experience and living condition,but also the changes of the social era,and at the same time,provides a direction for the current ink and wash art creation to draw on and think about.
