Kidult refers to the adults who have child-like taste in entertainment or who participate in youthful culture. It first came in mid-1980s as the flourishing of Postmodernism in western countries. The kidult spread to China and then formed as Chinese Kidult in 1990s as China has made more closed communication with western countries due to the effective Reform and Opening Policies. This article first discusses the relationship between the culture of Chinese Kidult and the art of animation and then the development of the domestic animation and the industry by observing the Chinese Kidult who are the major audiences of domestic animation. After that, the article tries to investigate the problems and find the solutions of the development which to benefit the domestic animation and the industry. |
