Novels of Tang Dynasty are highly related with the political affairs of the time being. But when the relationship between the two is researched in the modern times, due to various kinds of reasons, more attention has been focused on the ones of realism, which are more serious than the non-realism ones, leaving the latter ones unnoticed. Novels discussed in this paper expressed the political sentiment by a metaphor of super-realism ghost story, which was traditionally expressed in essay or poetry. And because novel was a emerging form of literature at Tang Dynasty, and it was, to some extent, a vulgar and underprivileged form, so the attempt was fresh and successful. What's more, authors of these ghost stories added their thoughts and settings of mysticism, using the absurd and odd character of ghost and spirits to represent the serious political matter, which seems dignified and absurd and literary grace, thus presents high aesthetic value of art. This paper summarizes works of this kind, analyses their way of expressing the political emotion, and weighs the cultural connotations and merits and flaws on art. |
