A Study On The Phonology Of Jiusuo Dialect

The Hainan Province Ledong County nine townships is a pure Han Nationality township. This article through describes Jiusuo dialect phonologyto analyze its rhyme tune with the relationships and characteristics of syllable structure,and Jiusuo dialect, with the Middle Chinese Phonology, Mandarin phonology careful comparison, to observe its phonological features. This article believes that, Jiusuo dialect has " light lip sound turn to heavy lip sound", "alveolar turn to tip-tongued affricates", devoicing of the ancient MC voiced initial, the intonation is divided seven kinds, voiced falling tone turn to sonant rising tone, the final system enters three points:Yin, Yang, Ru, Literal vs.Oral Pronunciations phenomenon and so on the obvious Min dialect characteristic; and also has glottal stop initial [6] and [d], the Quan Qing of Jing Zhao initial group read [t], and the Ci Qing read [s], [s] and [θ] are in opposition, and there is no nasalizations of the distinctive characteristics such as Hainan Min dialect. Jiusuo dialect and Wenchang dialect which is Hainan Min dialect's representation also has the important difference:Jiusuo dialect still holds aspirated tenuis initial consonant[p'], [t'], [k'], but entering tone rhyme tail [-p], [-t], [-k] has been combined into a kind of glottal stop, the nasal rhyme tail[-m] also already merged[-n].With these important phonological features,Jiusuo dialect can be used as representative of a hypogynous subdialect which belongs to Hainan Min dialect.
