Objective: To discuss the relationship between serum lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] and carotid angiosclerosis in Type 2 Diabetiecs (T2DM) in Uygur and Han.To see whether the differences exist between Uygurs and Han. Methods: 348 cases with T2DM in The First Hospital Affiliated to Xinjiang Medical University from Jan to Dec 2009, including 99 Uygurs and 249 Han who were measured serum Lp(a), apoAl,apoB, FPG, TG, TC, HDL-C, LDL-C, plasma Fg, and UA level, and explored with or without carotid angiosclerosis plaque and carotid intima-media thickness by colour ultrasonoscope and sumed arotid angiosclerosis plaque compared with controls. Result:(1) The level of serum Lp(a) in the angiosclerosis plaque group and the non-angiosclerosis plaque group in T2DM patients were significantly differnt with those in control group(P<0.01); The level of serum Lp(a) in the angiosclerosis plaque group were differnt with those in the non-angiosclerosis plaque group (P < 0.01). (2) The level of serum Lp(a) of Uygur and Han in T2DM patients had non differences(P>0.05). (3) The level of serum Lp(a) in T2DM patients were not changed with age or sex(P>0.05). (4) There was no difference in the angiosclerosis plaque group in T2DM patients and in non-angiosclerosis plaque group in T2DM patients(Lp(a)<300 mg/L),but the angiosclerosis plaque group in T2DM patients affected the mos in abnormally elevated Lp(a) subgroup, which proportion was significantly higher than that of the other group(P<0.05). (5) The level of serum Lp(a) were positively correlated with the carotid angiosclerosis plaque. Conclusion: Lp(a) levels of T2DM patients are closely related with the carotid angiosclerosis. The level of serum Lp(a) of Uygur and Han in T2DM patients may not exist racial differences.
