Objective: To disgust the correlation of patellar height and rang of motion(ROM) of knee joint in pre-operation and post-operation. Methods: Follow up 58 patients(100 knee joint) who was taken the total knee arthroplasty (TKA) with the high flexion prosthesis from 2009.1 to 2009.10,and record the rom in pre-operation and post-operation for 12 weeks. Measure length of the long-axial of patellar and the patella tendon to calculating the Insall—Salvati index. All of cases were separated into 2 groups by Insall-Salvati index: 0.8--1.2 for the first group ;﹥1.2 for the second group. Study about Correlation of Insall-Salvati index and Rang of Motion of Knee Joint in Pre-operation and Post-operation. Results: All of the patients with osteoarthritis(OA) who's Insall-Salvati index were lower than 0.8. Pearson correlation shows the rang of motion(ROM) of Knee Joint is associated positively with ISI in 0.8--1.2;negatively with ISI bigger than 1.2.And the increment of rom between pre-operation and post-operation is associated positively with ISI. Conclusion: Do measure length of the long-axial of patellar and the patella tendon to calculating the Insall-Salvati index before we do the TKA operation. To diagnose and evaluate the severe degree of osteoarthritis (OA) accordance with the result ;It is also could be used as the reference to determine how much should be cut by femoral postartis or how much soft tissue intra-joint to remove and the size of the i tibia insert.
