ObjectivePolycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common reproductive endocrine disorders for women of childbearing age. Recent studies have shown that:insulin resistance (IR) and hyperinsulinemia (HI) may play an important in the pathogennesis of PCOS. On the one hand can lead to HA (hyperandrogenism), and HLH (high luteinizing hormone hyperliidemia) causing irregular menstruation, sterility, etc. It may also be cased by sugar, lipid metabolism, etc. and lead to coronary heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure long-term metabolic complications. Therefore, improving insulin sensitivity from the start, for the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome, opened a new respect.Metformin for the biguanide oral hypoglycemic agents, as the insulin-sensitizing agent, was first used in the treatment of diabetes. In this study, metformin treatment of PCOS patients compared before and after treatment of clinical symptom, insulin, blood glucose, HOMA-IR, liver and kidney function, lipids, in observation of metformin on insulin resistance in the impact of PCOS compared before and after treatment the changes of serum sex hormones and ovulation were observed to improve insulin resistance in the impact of sex hormone disorders and infertility.MethodsForty-five patients with PCOS and insulin resistance and forty-five regular cycling control subjects were treated with metformin for 12 weeks, to observe the change of blood sugar, blood-lipid,insulin sensibility and sex hormone level after treatment.ResultsAfter the treatment, insulin, HOMA-IR,LH,T,LH/FSH decreased significantly(p<0.05), while HDL-C increased significantly(p<0.05).The combination of them can reduce androgen, ameliorate menstrual regularity and insulin sensitivity, lead to spontaneous ovulation. Conclusion1.Metformin may effectively improve Ir and reduce INS of patients with PCOS and insulin resistance。2.Metformin may effectively improve blood glucose, serum insulin, serum lipids, serum sex hormones and the performance of ovidnct spread ova in women with PCOS and insulin resistance. |
