1. Objective1.1 To set up the laboratory strains of Anopheles minimus of Yunnan.1.2 To observe Anopheles minimus'breeding situation.1.3 To observe Anopheles minimus'sensitivity to Plasmodium vivax by the artificial infection.2. Methods2.1 To catch the Anopheles minimus from a cattle shelter of village in Zhendong town of simao County, Puer, Yunnan province, taking them back to the breeding room for acclimation.2.2 Using the routine approaches to breed An. minimus collected from field site in laboratory under room temperature at 26-28℃, relative humidity 60-75%, water temperature 23-25℃, and using artificial mating to produce their offspring.2.3 Using the directional biting the hand - arms of infected plasmodium vivax patients, then putting the blooding mosquitoes into the room temperature at 26-28℃, relative humidity 60-75%, water temperature 23-25℃to breed. Dissecting and observing the oocyst infection rate of their stomachs under the microscope after their blooding at the seventh or eighth day.3. Results 3.1 The egg hatching rate, pupation rate and emergence rate of laboratory strains of An. minimus were 83%,78.25% and 92.55% respectively under laboratory temperature 26-28℃, relative humidity 60-75%, water temperature 23-25℃and daily lighting 12 hours.3.2 3 patients in the total of 6 P. lasmodium vivax patients infected artificially were found to be positive of oval in the mosquito stomachs, and their oval infected rates in An. minimus were 61.6%, 87.5% and 100% respectively.4. Conclusions4.1 An. minimus is breeding well under temperature 26~28℃, relative humidity 60-75%, water temperature 23-25℃.4.2 An. minimus is still susceptive to plasmodium vi vax in Yunnan.
