Objective To explore the effect of systematic rehabilitation interventions during the perioperative period in the elderly patients with pulmonary cancer accepted pulmonary lobectomy. Methods 50 cases in Cardio-thoracic Surgery Ward in the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University were randomly divided into the intervention group and the control group. Patients in the control group were given conventional care and those in the intervention group were treated with systematic rehabilitation intervention besides conventional care during the perioperative period. Comparisons were made about postoperative respiratory function status, the life quality of the eighth day after operation, postoperative pulmonary complications, chest tube retention time and hospitalization days after operation. Results The indexes of MVV%, FVC%, FEV1%, and PaO2on the third and the seventh day in the intervention group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). The patients in the intervention group had much better life quality than those in the control group the eighth day after operation statistically (P<0.05). The incidence rate of postoperative pulmonary complications in the intervention group was 8.0% and was significantly lower than that of 32.0% in the control group (P<0.05).Chest tube retention time and hospitalization days after operation were both significantly different between two groups (P<0.05).Conclusion The perioperative systematic rehabilitation intervention can effectively improve rehabilitation effect of elderly pulmonary cancer patients after operation, which means it is effective in improving postoperative pulmonary funtion and arterial oxygen pressure, mending life quality after operation, reducing chest tube retention time and hospitalization time after operation and decreasing pulmonary complication occurrence.
