Expression And Clinical Significance Of Brca1 And Brca2 In Basal-like Breast Carcinoma

Objective:To investigate the expression and the relationship between BRAC1 and BRAC2 with basal-like subtype breast carcinoma(BLBC). Methods:The expression of BRAC1 and BRAC2 examined by immunohistochemistry staining(PV-9000) in 86 BLBCs and adjacent tissues and also in 30 not otherwise specified type invasive ductal carcinomas(NOSIDC). Results:(1) The expression of BRAC1 and BRAC2 in BLBCs and adjacent tissues were 51.16% and 95.34%,38.37% and 96.51%;Expression of BRCA1 and BRCA2 in BLBCs were significantly lower than those in BLBC adjacent tissues (P< 0.05).(2) The expression of BRAC1 and BRAC2 in NOSIDC were 76.67% and 66.67%. Expression of BRCA1 and BRCA2 in BLBCs were significantly lower than those in NOSIDCs(P<0.05). (3)The expression of BRAC1 in BLBCs were significantly correlated with histopathological grade, TNM staging and lymph node metastasis (P< 0.05); and its expression have no correlation with ages, menopause or not, tumor sizes and metastasis(P>0.05). The expression of BRAC2 in BLBCs were significantly correlated with menopause or not, have no correlation with ages, tumor sizes, histopathological grade, TNM staging, lymph node metastasis and metastasis (P>0.05). (4)BRCA1 has significant correlation with BRCA2 in BLBC(P=0.0303,r=-0.0234).Conclusions:BRAC1 and BRAC2 might be contribute to the development and progression in breast cancers, and BRAC1 could be a pontential marker for estimating the biological behavior and prognosis of BLBCs.
