ObjectiveThe study aimed at establishing a scientific, objective and comprehensive evaluation index system for Performance Appraisal of Charge Nurses, which is used to improve Charge Nurses' overall quality, mobilize their enthusiasm of work fully and nursing management operate sciencely and efficiently.MethodsBased on the literature review and performance structure theory, using qualitative research and expert group discussion, primary items for the evaluation system were collected which includes three dimesions of task performance, contextual performance and adaptapility performance. By two rounds consultation of 43 Zhejing experts using Delphi, the system structure was established, which includes definition of index, assessment method and their relative weight.The Enthusiasm Coefficient of experts, the Authority Coefficient of experts, the Coefficients of Variation and the Harmonization Coefficient W were used to examine the reliability and representation of expert consultation.ResultsThe Zhejiang Index System for Performance Appraisal of Charge Nurses was composed of 43 items of definition of index, assessment method and their relative weight from 3 domains including task performance, contextual performance and adaptapility performance. After 2 rounds of expert consultation, the Enthusiasm Coefficient of experts was 97.67% and 97.50%(>70%). The Authority Coefficient of experts was 0.85 and 0.84 (>0.70). The Coefficients of variation of tne importance of all items ranged from 0.00 to 0.20, those of operability of all items ranged from 0.05 to 0.22(<0.30).ConclusionsA set of Index System for Performance Appraisal of Zhejiang Charge Nurses was established, which composed of 3 first indexes,8 secondary indexes and 43 third indexes. It also includes index structure, definition, assessment method and their relative weight. The reliability of the 2 rounds expert consultation showed that the expert consultations had good reliability and representation.
