Walnuts, Dates Propagation Techniques And Their Theoretical Studies

The walnut and Chinese Date are the main no-timber trees in the hilly region, propagated by grafting, which propagation technique needs 2-3years to culture the rootstock and costs much more money. So it can not be meet the change of breed varieties in production practice. Based on this problem the walnut grafting(seedling grafting budding and scion grafting) and Chinese Date cutting were studied, and the mechanism, was analyzed.The result showed that walnut seedling grafting is the best method. It spends the least of money and times to get the strongest nursery stocks. The survival rate and the growth of new shoot are similar to that of budding and scion grafting. Compared with past, the grafting union could be healed in the field through covering film in jianyang country, Sichuan province. The survival rate was over 68.2%. The rootstock seedlings with irregular root that be made by broadcast sowing could be used in practice.The walnut grafting survival rate based on the phenol contents in the walnut scion and rootstock, the more phenol contents, the lower survival rate. Polyphenol oxidase activities (PPO) have relativity with phenol contents but PAL have no. PPO increase with the phenol content.The experimented breeds of Chinese date could take root by cutting, the rooting ratio increased after ABT treatment, that is 33.33% by the cuttings treated with 100ppm ABT. it's the best treatment. The cutting could be carried out from June to August, and July is the best cutting time.The cell and tissue differentiation connect with PPO and PAL activities of cuttings, in the period of rooting, the PPO activities of callus are increasing. When the root just come out, it's the highest; thereafter it's decreasing. But PAL activities is decreasing from beginning to end. The experiments showed that PPO and PAL activities are too high or too low to take root.
