Study on Development of the Main Digestive in Pancreas and Small Intestine Enzymes in Calves ABSTRACT Twenty-one male calves were slaughtered at the age of 0, 1, 2,3,4,5,6 months (three calves each age) to study the development of digestive of intestine and the activities of main digestive enzymes in pancreas and different parts of small intestine with age.The results showed: The pancreas grew quickly with age, which was remained steady in 0-1 months. The pancreas increased significantly after the age of 3 months, and the proportional weight of the pancreas also increased significantly. The development of dry matter of the pancreas which grew with age was identical with the wet weights. The weights of different parts of small intestine increased with age. The weight of the duodenum increased significantly at the age of 3 months, and the weight of jejunum and ileum increased at the age of 5-6 months. The tenth of different parts of small intestine also increased with age. At the age of 6 months, the lenth of duodenum was 0.446m longer than that of birth; jejunum,1.33m; ileum, 1.641 m. According to the development of digestive orans, the absolute weights of digestive gland and small intestine increased gradually from birth to 6 months. With the gradual change of the type of diet intaken by animals, the development of pancreas and small intestine was fast and realistic weight increased gradually as well as relative proportion and lenth. The results indicated that solid feed intake is the important factor to stimulate the development ofpancreas and small intestine. When expressed by specific activity (SA:UIg protein), small intestine content had trypsin and chymotrypsin activitiesin the young calf at birth. But the absolute value was lower(4.7 I vs 31.12). The activitiy rase gradually with age, which increased sharply after 2 months(p(0.05). The SA of amylase in small intestine content and mocosa very low at birth, but they increased sharply with age (p
