With the development of electric and electronic technology, the electric and electronic equipments have been used in our work and life broadly. The concept of"Green Lighting"for lighting lamp is to save energy sources and protect environment. By using technology of high efficiency lighting is not only to save energy sources, but also to protect environment. The power IC for electronic ballast in this project is a high-voltage and high-speed monolithic integrated circuit. The Integrated Circuit is designed for driving Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL) in a half-bridge configuration. The IC features a soft start function, an adjustable internal oscillator and an internal drive function with a high voltage level shifter for driving the half-bridge. We can adjust the oscillation frequency by using the power IC to make the glow time as short as possible, prolong the lifetime of the CFL. There are two channels in the circuit. They are high voltage output and low voltage output. The function of non-overlap time circuit is to control the two LDMOS are not turned on at the same time. To guarantee an accurate 50 % duty cycle, the oscillator signal is passed through a divider before being fed to the output drivers. The power device is drived by the floating voltage. The maximum voltage of high side is 550 V. We can make the circui design briefer by using this power IC .This paper introduce the basic theory of electronic ballast, and analyse the circuit fuction of VDD bias, oscillator ,sweep and glow time control, divide-by-2, dead time and low side drive, and simulate the function by HSPICE, finaly introduce the BCD process , the configuration and the layout of the interrelated devices.
