Urban Renaissance, Major Events As The Catalyst

With the development of the city, there is a phenomenon existing in some cities that the vigor of them loss seriously, thus the regeneration of the city becomes a hot spot.Meanwhile, the mega-event has become the power tools to achieve strategic objectives for each city to raise the urban competitiveness.So it is a worth-exploring question how to understand mega-event and how to use the "event" to achieve the regeneration of the city.At present, the definition of the mega-events of foreign scholars is based on the results of Ritchie. But there isn't a clear classification.The effects and various methods had been in-depth and comprehensive. The research of domestic focuses on the definition of the mega-events and the classification methods.The study is relatively narrow scope.In addition,the study of using the mega-events to achive the regeneration of the city is less,limited to a specific event.In this paper, some cases are analyzed in the method of classification, induction and example demonstration and a series of effective measure are summarized, which further perfect the theory and the practice of the regeneration of the city with the mega-event and provide scientific basis. This article can be divided into three parts. First part included 1 and 2 chapters. The main" mission of it is trying to summary the research results at home and abroad. Second part included 3 and 4 chapters. The main aim of it is to make induction, classification and summary about lots of successful cases at home and abroad. Some typical instances are used to describe and verify the method and practice. The third part is the conclusion of this article. It makes summary on the impact of mega-event on the urban regeneration, and points out its guild meanings.Some cases are analyzed in the method of classification, induction and example demonstration and a series of effective measure are summarized in this paper.It's the result that different cities according to its own situation and development strategy choose different types of mega-events to the regeneration of the city. Otherwise,there will be a waste of resources,lack of urban characteristics,and so on.
