Since ancient times, people prefer to read, work or live in natural light, which is regarded as the best lighting source for visual activities both indoor and outdoor. The investigation to the feeling and comments of residents to the present natural lighting status is an essential work to the utilization and creation of natural lighting environment. As a green, healthy and sustainable source, natural light is attracting more and more people's interesting to create more healthy and comfortable lighting in residential buildings.However, by now in China, natural lighting design is not according to a scientific way and the natural light utility is not considered properly by architects. Part is for the difficulties of lighting design and lack of natural lighting knowledge of local photic climate. This article is mainly focused on the research in the following areas:①Select a typical residential building in Tianjin of Northern China, test the natural lighting status in living rooms, bed rooms, kitchen and washroom. Investigate and summarize householder's feeling for the effects of natural light, and explore the relationship between the test data and feeling;②For the actual situation, analysis of impact of natural light and quality for the residential buildings of various factors, evaluation of residential buildings proposed quantitative indicators for environmental quality of light, it is for the future assessment of natural lighting design and optimization;③For typical residential building, combined with resident satisfaction survey results, to access and analyze, and Proposed measures for improvement, through the Ecotect software simulation to evaluate the improved lighting effects, validating for the evaluation indicators.Through the Ecotect software simulation to evaluate the improved lighting effects. In this paper, the quantization evaluation method and nice system for the day lighting quality of the residential architecture is contribute to optimize the relevant principles of residential buildings lighting, it is conducive to improve the designer's operability in the actual program, advocating under the premise of green building to better achieve the use of natural light.
