The paper focuses on of three-dimensional imaging luminance measurement. Conventional luminance meter is based on spot-to-spot measurement. With the development of the CCD, different application of plane imaging luminance measurement is introduced. However, the objects in the real world are three-dimensional. How to measuring luminance distribution of three-dimensional objects accurately is the principal topic of the paper. The paper is made up of two sections. First section is about the research of three-dimensional imaging luminance measurement, Second is about the research of glare evaluation of lamps. A new design of three-dimensional imaging luminance measurement based on spatial light distribution measuring and imaging luminance measuring technology is introduced in the paper .The system mainly consists of two modules: Spatial scanning components and Imaging luminance meter. The measurement of 3D image luminance distribution is accomplished by the measuring of the luminance distribution on lamp's surface through in spatially different directions and processing these data by software. The solution of improving the performance of the three-dimensional imaging luminance meter is suggested. Calibrate the meter with standard light source, measure the luminance distribution under different exposal time and make comparisons with the luminance of the standard light source, thus achieve the nonlinear calibration. And the expansion of the dynamic range is based on choosing the exposal time appropriately and applying multiple exposal. The general standard glare evaluation criterions includes: Visual comfortable probability(VCP), Glare index (GI), Glare limitation system (Luminance limitation curve) , Glare index method and Universal Glare Rating (UGR) proposed by CIE. Since UGR (Universal Glare Rating) is a systemization of those methods mentioned above and can be applied to three situations as follows: a light source with surface area less than 0.005m2;large source such as indirection lighting and sunshade; large source between those two types of sources mentioned above, the presentedpaper is focusing on this method. A experiment program of glare evaluation by making use of the three-dimensionalimaging luminance meter is presented. The experiments have been done in different artistic lamps, the luminance distribution character has been analyzed. The appropriate evaluation has been suggested and the feasibility of the experiment program has been verified.
