With the rapid growth of the national economy, the management level of the power industry has put forward higher requirements. The management of power grid information and geographic information system combination is an important direction of the development. In this paper, it introduces a method which can draw power grid geographic mapping and Schematic writing of the site based on MapInfo .This method cans Analysis the Topology of the power grid, having a strong Practicality. Study on the GIS-based information management system and Power Grid Planning System ,having achieved certain results.(1) Studied the mapping methods of power grid which based on GIS.It is Suitable for the application of the power industry. High-voltage power grids are devided into two part, wiring diagram and schematic site parts. In this way, It can describe the complex relationship between power grids.(2) Proposed a topological analysis method which breaking up the whole grid into site. Based on the above power grid mapping method, I proposed a topological analysis method which breaking up the whole grid into site.we can analysis the site first. At last, we can use power line as a bridge, connetting the various sites into the overall network.(3) For the topology analysis of the site, according to mapping rules, directly determine the number of nodes. It doesn't have to change the number. It will help improve the efficiency of topology analysis.Using this methords, it can reduce the scope of the searching data and improve the efficiency of Topological analysis.(4) Studied on the methods which can convert MapInfo map to AutoCAD graphics.By controlling the output layer, It can converte point symbols to blocks object of AutoCAD.
