The research of armor-piercing problem has great significance in military, so that it always attracts the attention of scholars at home and abroad. After a series of study of material structure analysis, finite element modeling and ballistic simulation, its dissertation is aimed to take the lead of obtaining the penetration mechanism of the reversed cluster tungsten composite armor-piercer based on explicit dynamic analysis program LS-DYNA. Therefore, the research achievements obtained in this paper are valuable to design the new type armor-piercer.By the FEM Simulation, Corresponding physical details in penetration are illustrated and detailed comparative analysis and discussion are elaborated.(1) According to the structural characteristics of composites, different material phases are modeled and meshed variously by Ansys preprocessor, and we choose appropriate contact algorithms on rob and target materials respectively. After Tungsten wires are reversed, the effect of strain-hardening should be considered and should set the material parameters along the projectile diameter hierarchically to solve the work-hardening problem.(2) The tungsten wires and bonding phase (matrix) were defined different material types and meshed each, and the contact interface between the two is defined as the erosion of contact and contact with solid links by Ansys preprocessor module. J-C material model was chosen to make numerical calculations give stress distribution images on penetrating steel targets and describe the failure form of material.(3) Under the same penetration condition, comparative analysis showed that metallic glass matrix reversed cluster tungsten composite armor-piercer has best Penetration performance, while other results also show that the reverse approach can effectively improve projectile's ability of anti-scatter. In this paper, simulation results have explained the penetration mechanism of the reversed cluster tungsten composite armor-piercer, and they are in good agreement with experiments at home and abroad.
