Xiangtan City Spatial Morphology Evolution

Urban morphology is the accumulation of different historical stage of development of material civilization and spiritual civilization,and envoles with the development of human community.Nowadays, China is a period of rapid urbanization and economy development. With the increase of urban population, urban areas expand quickly. Consequently, there is a fast urban morphological evolution mainly made by urban sprwal and urban restructure. The study on urban morphology is one of the important foundations, which can help to guide a healthy urban development.In view of these and the deficiency of research on regional center cities, the thesis selects Xiangtan, based on the practice and the theory which is from the analysis of the researeches on the urban space structure on a national and internation level, this essay analyses the courses of the change of the exterior morpholoy and inner structure of the usage of the urban lands in Xiangtan and concludes the characteristics of the change of urban space in Xiangtan and the mechnism of power, and further discuss the layout of the urban space structure in Xiangtan in the future,to optimize the urban spatial morphology of Xiangtan, put forward programs of urban spatial morphology, and put forward strategy to optimize the programs.This essay consists of the following six parts : preface, it introduction of the background, the significance of this research, the research method and frame; Chapter II, the theory and practice of the urban space morphology within and without China, and put forword analysis of urban spatial morphology line; Chapter III, first, according to socio-economic differences and changes in the political background of urban development, the evolution of the Xiangtan urban morphology is divided into different stages,then, introduce the background of the times of different stages,describe the process and functional characteristics, then, apply quadrant analysis of spatial orientation and urban expansion intensity index, analyse the number of characteristics of urban expansion; Chapter V, analyse the mechnism of power; Chapter VI, expound the trend on the evolution of urban spatial morphology in xiangtan, explore the optimization program as well as the countermeasures program; Chapter VII, conclusions and outlook, summarize the full text of the content of the study summarized, according to the study as a result of a number of reasons, subjective and objective, analyse of the difficulties encountered and to propose the attention in the follow-up study .
