As a new alternative fuel vehicle, because of its low-pollution, energy saving, economic, security, natural gas vehicle has largely been developed at home and abroad. With the electronic technology widely used in natural gas engine, the engine fault diagnosis is becoming more and more difficult.Thus the research of failure mechanism of natural gas engine is a very necessary and urgent task.This paper designed and developed the Natural gas engine fault simulation test bench which is transformed based on Mitsubishi 4G15S.Based on in detail the analysis of the structure, principle, signal characteristic and the common faults that may occur on the Natural gas engines.It designed the hardware of the front managed circuit, the original/simulated hand-of circuit and the signal losing control circuit. The test system may collect, simulate and alternate the natural gas engine common sensor signals, use the method of combination of software and hardware, in order to realize of the natural gas engine fault simulation and reproduction.The Natural gas engine fault simulation test bench designed in this paper can provide some researching and learning opportunities for vehicle maintenance staff, researchers, and the students, and also can provide a good platform for the research of failure mechanism of natural gas engine. The test bench has a very good commonality, it can compose the sensor signal acquisition, fault simulation and display system not only with a variety of electronically controlled gasoline engine bench, but also with other vehicle electronic control system.
