The emphasis on environment protection and energy consumption in the new age impel the development of ultra light steel on automobiles. Advanced high strength steels having the character of both high strength and high plasticity, which can make great contribution to weight-reduction of automobiles as well as meet safety requirements, have been increasingly developed.Because of transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP) effect, the AHSS TRIP steel has the ability of high strength and high plasticity through making retained austenite in plate under action of plastic deformation induce martensite nucleation and formation, producing local hardening then causing deformation no longer concentrate at local, finally transformation uniformly extending to whole material of steel sheet.The study, of which the object is the first beam of vehicle frame of ISTANA, is on the tryout of ultra light design by using TRIP instead of original material to validate whether TRIP steel can meet all the requirements of the former status by the way of theoretic study and practical testing.1. Material analysis and forming property test of TRIP steelAnalyze the component, mechanical performance and structure of TRIP steel and evaluate the stamping process of actual parts through the forming test of the metal sheet.2. Ultra light design, forming and fatigue simulation of 1st beam partCompare two TRIP steels with the original material and analyze the feasibility of substitution through theoretic calculation of strength and energy-absorption. Simulate the forming process and the dynamic fatigue test of the 1st beam part, finding out the weakening area and estimating the likely occurrence according to the actual condition.3. Trial production and test of the 1st beam partTrial-produce the 1st beam part, including stamping, welding, painting and assembly welding process. Finish the related test to validate the result of theoretic study.The study of this thesis shows that the application of TRIP steel for ISTANA vehicle is successful. The Ultra-light substitution can increase the safety and quality of the vehicle as well as reduce the weight. Through the try, we have gained much experience and fulfilled the target of the substitution of High Strength Steel on ordinary steel.
