Based on the theory of material mechanics, vibration mechanics and finite element method, electromagnetic gun barrel is analysed and the mechanical performance is obtained. The plane model of the electromagnetic gun barrel is set up and the stress and strain is obtained. The key designing parameters of the electromagnetic gun barrel is changed and the effects of the key parameters on gun barrel's mechanical performance is analysed, then linear regression analysis is done and the relationship between them is obtained. The three-dimensional model of the electromagnetic gun barrel is set up and the modal analysis of the gun barrel is done. The relationship between the gun barrel's resonance and the bullet's launch speed is studied in the review of vibration mechanics and the critical velocity of the bullet's launch speed which lead to the gun barrel's resonance is calculated in theory. The gun barrel's radial displacement is get with the method of finite element method when the bullet is launched in different velocity. The launch velocity leading to the biggest gun barrel's radial displacement is get. These two speeds are compared, so the critical velocity of the bullet's launch speed can be got more accurately. The process of the bullet's extruding into the gun barrel with different electromagnetic thrust forces is simulated, then the relationship between the electromagnetic thrust force and the bullet's axial displacement is analysed and minimum electromagnetic thrust force needed for the bullet to penetrate the gun barrel is calculated. In summary, the paper have some value in the designing of electromagnetic gun barrel.
