Compression molding is one of the most important processing techniques for automotive interiors and owns wide market prospect. Virtually all the investigations are based on experiment due to the complexity of molding process. Combined with the product line for molding automotive interiors introduced by a well-known automotive interior company recently, by use of computer-assisted analysis software and numerical simulation software simulate the process of compression molding in order to optimize the molding parameters and solve the quality problems of products.(1) The molding parameters that play a vital role in improving quality of products were determined by analysis the molding process and quality problems of automotive interiors.(2) By simulating the die closed process with POLYFLOW, this paper provides the distribution of flow rate and pressure of molding compound at the different time, furthermore, calculates the molding pressure that the product required.(3) By simulating and anglicizing the heating process of the mold with the thermal module of the finite element software ANSYS, obtained the twinkling state temperature field and the heating time that the theoretical temperature required. At the same time, to solve the quality problems of products due to can't control the temperature of mold surface in an appropriate range, this paper provides corresponding improvements.(4) The distribution of temperature and the degree of cure at the different time were analyzed and investigated by simulating the curing process of product. Furthermore, by investigating the influence of different molding parameters we found that increasing the heating temperature of mold and molding compound is helpful to shorten molding circle and improve mechanical properties of product.
