With the development of society and economy, car has become a kind of indispensable transportation. The lighting system of cars takes on two functions, lighting and signaling, which are the main parts of the automotive safety performances. Fog's formation in automobile lamps is a serious problem which influences the quality, durability and working efficiency of modern automotive lamp.This paper analyses and researches on fog's formation mechanism in automobile lamps using theoretical analysis and numerical simulation and verification test. Moreover, the flowing characteristic and temperature distribution in the automotive lamp are revealed by numerical simulation. All these supply theoretical basis to solve the fogging problem. The main works and achievements are shown as follow:1. Aim at the fog's formation problem in the design of modern automotive lamp, this paper summed up the researches at home and abroad, and expatiated that the thermal design have a important status on the whole design of automotive lamps.2. With water vapor coagulation mechanism, this paper opened out the hypostasis of the lamps' internal node fog are the water vapor coagulate as a bead on the inner surface of the lamp, the three conditions of lamps fog and the several factors which impact lamps fog. Setting up convenient and feasible criterion of coagulation.3. The numerical simulation is carried out for Internal flow characteristics of the lamp, open out the air flow characteristics of the lamp, expatiate different ventilation orifices'effect on a internal flow field distributing of the lamp.4. This paper builds a rapid and feasible numerical model of temperature field of the car light, and simulate the temperature distribution of the light lens. And the experiments confirm the feasibility of the model. It shows the uneven distribution of the lens temperature is the primary factor, which leads to the fogging inside the car light. By the simulation of the numerical model, it reveals some factors which affect the distribution of the temperature field of the light lens. 5. Put forward the lamp has a critical humidity of fogging, and verify the existence of critical humidity of fogging in lamps' typical work environment by testing . The research of engineering applications's methods of the fog lamps humidity critical is forecasted.
