The missile that uses all-way command guidance system is the first selected approach of the surface-to-air missile weapon system in attacking short-range targets due to simple on-board devices and cheap price. More thorough research is carried out in the overall design of the radio control detector of the on-board devices in this paper according to wide use of the command guidance technology in third generation air defense weapon system against the background of the advance studied model of the certain surface-to-air missile weapon system.Firstly, the operational process, composition and function of the radio control detector have a preliminary approach on the basis of analysis of the basic principle of the radio control detector.Secondly, it is necessary to select suitable communication systems (including command information modulation mode, error control mode and error-correcting coded mode) according to the operational time sequence of the guidance station in designing the operational time sequence of the radio control detector and to the requirement of information transmission in the weapon system. There is a research in replying mode of the priority selection of the transponder in order to solve the problem of multi-path jamming of the weapon system in low altitude and to reduce the operating altitude. The radio control detector give the guidance station a replying signal which meets the requirement via the mode of amplification and transformation of the missile detected signals.Finally, the approach of the receiver and the design of the main technical characteristics are completed on the basis of the overall technical characteristics of the weapon system according to the operational time sequence of the guidance station in designing the operational process and the operational time sequence of the radio control detector with computation of the transmission energy of the up- and down-link channels in the weapon system. The operational time sequence of the decoder is finished designing according to the operational process and the operational time sequence of the radio control detector. Also, the approach of the transponder has been carried out the priority selection and its main technical characteristics finished designing by the function which needs to complete in the transponder. The demonstration which can realize the technical counter-countermeasure is completed in the engineering of the radio control detector by the requirement of the basic parameters of the hardware devices such as receiver, decoder, transponder and antenna etc. via the characteristics such as magnitude of the oblique crossing angle and the antenna gain of the antenna beam width computed and defined by the transmission energy of the up- and down-link channels.In a word, the research in this paper has made the important step for the theory and method of the radio control detector in practical application to engineering and this approach is feasible.
