The subject is a sub-topic of Professor Wang Shu and its core research team's national research program,"The Root of The Problem - the original research on a system of Chinese civil construction ".To choose masonry as an entry point to do my study is based on the following two reasons:first for Zhejiang Province,as a result of the unique conditions of geography and geology, coupled with historical and cultural origins, its local masonry showing the face of numerous and complicated - a rich selection of material,a way to construct varied, systems and practices of major differences are its main characteristics; then because of the author insist that the masonry is only as a research perspective, which cited to bring out the discussion of whatⅠwould call a " Specificity " architecture behind the whole system of Chinese civil construction is even more important. Then,in ChapterⅡ is the subject of two differences ("City / Civil","Architect/Artisans") asked for another architecture - the civil construct of residing the rational thinking in the local construction - that is,the existence of the so-called specific architecture,in research the thinking of local artisans takes from the specific practice(or that their own thinking is in the same way of the practice),as another specific architecture parallel to the modern professional architectural,it suggests that the long-term absence of this specific thinking to us(and this thinking has always been latent in our civil world). The contrast of "Raum /Construct" comes from the respond to recent construction return to the rational terms in professional architecture field, and clarify the academic role and position of the masonry study. Then leads to the analogy of the "Masonry / Contexture",which classified masonry as a type of contexture activities, collusion together the micro-masonry and the macro(the world) construction through the contexture.Similar to the above,ChapterⅢ also begins with the subject of differences.First,a decomposition discussion of "砌/筑" result in that, the two activities "砌"&"筑"have no real time series, they are close to the contexture activities by intertextuality interdependence. Then followed by a discussion on the later one through two types of "Decomposition / Combination" comes to a ubiquitous comprehensive(reversible) state of all the contexture activities, and the importance of syntax. After that," Categories of Masonry " discussed the classification of complex masonry phenomenon,or try to make the classification appear where they are already there.ChapterⅣ and ChapterⅤ are focal points in the thesis, which are based on the masonry materials' classification and in the discourse context of structurism linguistics of the synchronic and diachronic (particularly of synchronic),to allocate and understand the construction phenomena of Zhejiang province in different area(the allocation is to make different or similar things appear at the same time and then make it understandable),what is somewhat similar to codification of a word dictionary. In fact, the author try to abandon the purely technical or intention discussions of the two extremes,at the same time to do a masonry "dictionary" codification work of Zhejiang province, which may not be exhaustive, but has taken to the allocation rules will attempt to be close to the real differences of civl masonry phenomenon, and trying to rebuild a specific reflection masonry in the field of professional architecture through the masonry perspective. At last, the article is ended with the analysis on my graduation project, trying to sort out clearly from thinking to practice.Start from the conceptual civil study to the thesis, and then to the true design practice of this coherent process,in which this article as a design thesis tries to establish a kind of connecting.
