The marching and combat flexibility and persistence are of great importance in modern war. Therefore, the weight reduction of individual weapon to improve the individual maneuverability is the trend of the individual weapon development.Based on the same combat performance as the current assault rifle in service, a new kind of light weight rifle is studied. By innovative structure design and the appropriate material selection, the obvious effect of weight reduction is obtained. According to the performance requirement, a scheme of light rifle is proposed. The three-dimensional model of this rifle has been built in the environment of SolidWorks. By the analysis and calculation of interior ballistics, the pressure curve in guns and the pressure curve in gas chamber and some other key figures have been got, which provide the necessary conditions for the dynamic simulation. Then by the simulation which was carried on in the environment of ADAMS, some dynamic parameters of key components have been got, and these parameters will be the important reference for optimization. After simulations, feedback and optimization, the prospective effect has been obtained.The proposed scheme of light weight rifle and the simulation results are very significant for further engineering development of light weight rifle.
