| As a significant part of the engine cooling system, fan plays an important role to ensure the appropriate cooling and stability temperature of the engine. At present there are two shortcomings with fan-driven: on the one hand, the traditional fan-driver (shaft-driven) can not export consecutive rotary speed, and will cause unnecessary engine power loss, excessive cooling and other problems; the other driver which can achieve consecutive rotary speed (hydraulic or motor-driven) will make the system complex. MR clutch which using MRF as the transmission medium with advantages of output speed adjustable, quick response and low power consumption provides a new way to resolve the problem.In this paper, theoretical analysis, simulation and test verification are used to research the application of MR clutch in fan-driver, the main contribution of this dissertation include the followings:(1)The characteristics of ordinary fan driver are analyzed and compared. The development trends of fan-driven technology are summed up. The significance of the MR clutch application in fan-driven is expound(2)MRF flow characteristics and the mechanical properties are analyzed. Based on the Bingham model of MRF and N-S equation of incompressible viscous fluid, torque transfer model of MR clutch is established. The parameters on the impact of torque are analyzed. According to the magnetic circuit design theory, two methods for designing the magnetic circuit of MRF clutch are provided. With the help of numerical software Ansys, the correctness of the results of theoretical calculations is verified.(3)The simulation model of the MRF clutch is established according to the theory of heat conduction. The strategys of double-control, PD control, fuzzy control which are commonly used in temperature control are simulated with matlab. The three control Strategys are analyzed and evaluated. The software and hardware circuits with 89S51 microcontroller of the control system are designed.(4)The MRF clutch is designed and processed.
