A marine diesel generator system is used as a plan in this paper, and a neural network-based model reference adaptive controller(NNMRAC) as diesel engine speed controller, the simulation result of control shows that the dynamic performance is better than that of regular controller. A controller with fault tolerance will be perfect, some simulation have been executed with the NNMRAC proposed in this paper. The result of simulation shows that the NNMRAC proposed in this paper have the capability of fault tolerance to some degree. In this paper,tow RBF neural networks are used, one is as identification the other is as controller, A simplized marine diesel generator model is build up and used as reference model. The main work concludes several facts:1. Marine diesel generator math model is studied, including diesel engine ,actuator, synchronization generator and excitation system , and a simple marine diesel generator model is design.2. Study deeply NN structure and arithmetic, describing NN merits and feature and it s application. In this paper an. improved arithmetic is used to make NN training curve smooth.3. Introduction adaptive control, and combine NN and model reference adaptive control .Design a RBFNN-based MRAC, and simulate in simulink.4. FTC is introduced to marine diesel generator speed control, and direct a new way for marine system control.
