With the development of the design of large-scale motor, the thermal density is becoming larger, so that it is much more important to improve the ventilation of inner motor. In this thesis a new kind of method to calculate motor inner ventilation is introduced. The new method can save designing cost and is easy to carry out than the old one which needs to build real motor model.In this thesis the source of heat in the large-scale induction motor is analyzed, as well as the structure of the large-scale induction motor and the air flow field inside of the induction motor. Then give a simplified motor model which can be used to simulate the ventilation and heat transfer of the motor. CFD software, Fluent is used to simulate the ventilation and heat transfer of the motor, also the inner thermal field and flow field of the motor are given via Fluent. Five types of stator ventilation channel of induction motor are analyzed by Fluent respectively, then the best type of stator ventilation channel can be chosen comparing their ventilation resistance. The induction motor which is the best one is analyzed by Fluent, so we get the thermal field and flow field inside of the induction motor. In the thesis the theory of similar geometry of motor and the MRF model of Fluent are used. At last CFD method is proved the proper and easy method to design the ventilation structure of large-scale motor, and the analytic result can help us to choose the right ventilation structure of large-scale induction motor.
