| Nowadays, as the architectures are designed by the architects' own ideas, there remain others to be designed according to the essence of the architecture. The latter architectures are plain, but they contain plenty of observation and great ideas of the architects. They permeate with deeply traditional characteristics instead of historic features. An Indian architect, Charles·Correa is one of the great architects.The article begins with"India traditional characteristics"to analyze Charles·Correa' s works and thoughts from the perspective of religion, climate, foreign culture and the development of modernism with the combination of his profound thoughts and philosophy of life.The article is divided into three parts:Chapter II introduces the traditional architectural features and the development of modern architecture and demonstrates Charles·Correa' s creation from the angle of nature, religion, and culture and so on. Under the influence of further development of Indian modern architecture and architectural masters, Charles·Correa has new ideas about the transformation of traditional architecture.Chapter III shows to proceed local and international features. On the basis of fully understanding our own culture to embody Indian traditional culture and maintain the traditional inner core.Chapter IV , from India' s ancient architectural concepts, to analysising the performance of which in Correa 's construction of a number of traditional cultural identity.This chapter also analyzes how Charles·Correa can design great works to change the traditional Indian culture into the modern under the impact of Eastern and Western culture, traditional and modern culture.The conclusion summed up Charles·Correa' s architectural creation.
