6M25 Reciprocating Compressor is a crucial equipment in chemical plant, and it is huge and exorbitant. Its working conditions are very bad. If something goes wrong, the compressor will be seriously destroyed and even occur great loss. By establishing the on-line statue monitoring and fault diagnosing system, the equipment operation is monitored, and then the unusual phenomenon can be forecasted in order to decrease the repairing fee and troubles, so the equipment can be kept in a safe, steady and long time operation.Firstly, according to status monitoring and fault diagnosis system of 6M25-Style Reciprocating Compressor, this paper introduces a monitoring system based on the hardware structure of "SENSOR-PLC-IPC", and chose the type of hardware considering the complicated environment on the spot and different factors.Secondly, the characters and application scope of Siemens S7 industrial communication networks MPI, PROFIBUS and industrial Ethernet are analysed and compared. In order to assure the reliability of the system communication, MPI method is chosen to realize the data communication between IPC and PLC. With the aid of PRODAVE S7 DLL in the environment of Delphi, the communication between IPC and PLC of the monitoring system has been achieved with the method of MPI.Furthermore, the monitoring system based on Delphi and PLC program based on Step7 is researched and designed. And the pretreatment of signal and anti-jamming design is also been done.Lastly, setting and running experiment is introduced. The engineering practice shows that the monitoring system can attain the precision requirement and real time monitoring of reciprocating compressor, the alarm of fault diagnosis is exact, while the system is working normally. The technical research of this monitoring system will be a good reference to the status monitoring and fault diagnosis system of large-scale process equipment.
