With the continued reformation of power systems, electricity market based on provinces has come into being. And now running power plant has been according to AGC instead of scheduled load curve. Meanwhile, with the development of tech and equipments, there has been superabundance of the electricity output in some areas, which forms a practical base for research and application of economic dispatch.Economic dispatch is a very complex problem of system optimization including economic scheduling within power network and economic dispatch within power plant. The preceding is based on the latter. And this thesis tried to study Economic dispatch on connected two aspects, which are offline unit commitment and online economic dispatch.Unit commitment is to find minimum cost schedule plan subject to some limits such as reservation. And this classic problem gains new characteristics because of establish of the electricity market. In this thesis, AGC fees are introduced into the traditional model of unit commitment to reduce the operating costs of power plant. And lagrangian-relaxation method is used to resolve this new mathematic model after analysis of many optimization methods.Based on the result of unit commitment, a model of real-time economic dispatch is presented with the corresponding software. In this part, practical limits of operation must be considered because the result of the real-time economic dispatch will be sent to power unit. On the other hand, real-time economic dispatch concentrates on the minimization of current cost, which means the result cannot be minimal over a short time. The pretreatment of input data is introduced to reduce the above disadvantage according to manual operating experience.
