By using the theory of quasi-two phase flow based on gas dynamics equationsof interior ballistics, a gas dynamic model describing the firing process ofvariable velocity weapon under Euler coordinates is established. And by usingthe theory of ventage flux and classical interior ballistics, a mathematicalmodel describing the law of parameter change in the gas vessel is established.Then the interior ballistic processes under many different conditions aresolved by using MacCormack algorithm, the variation regularities of someinterior ballistic parameters are achieved, and the software for calculatingthe process is developed. In this paper, we take an assault rifle as an exampleto analyze the interior ballistic performance of the weapon under manydifferent conditions such as different place of ventage, different cubage ofgas vessel, different radius of ventage etc. Based on that, the influenceregularities of the variation of ventage place, gas vessel cubage and ventageradius on muzzle velocity of projectile are achieved, and then the best ventageplace, gas vessel cubage and ventage radius to change the muzzle velocity aredetermined, which provides theoretical foundation for further researches onvariable velocity weapons.
