The research on City form is constantly being considered important by scholastics. Firstly, the research on city form represent the concern of naturalness and humanity which lays in the issue of ideal city, human being's good living, and sustainable development, living environment, local characteristic, elegant landscape and its configuration means, which serve positively in building up standards of value and goals of action. Secondly, the research on city form is related to the city's physical realization and citizen's real emotional feel.In multiple layers of planning, the operation of form in the physical layer is available. It can be controlled and lead in practical planning process, while the form is essential to the accomplishment of other planning content. Its research on the summary of discipline of urban development and exploration of evolvement mode has also provide a reference for urban planning.This research start off from the point of view of "model", by borrowing the concept of "normative theory model" and reviewing the infection on today's city affected by information technology and characteristic of space structure of today's cities, it then put forward the argument that today's city form is in "network model", followed by argument of this "network model" on both functional and ecological aspects. In brief, "network model" is a model of city form that regional cities capable of providing multi-kind of centers, life world and choices, of protecting important natural open space, of adapting to locality. All in all, this research means to provide as a theory foundation for the explain theory of evolvement of city form, and better decision to making good city form.
