Airborne Bistatic Synthetic Aperture Radar (Bistatic SAR) is one kind of new imaging radar systems, which transmitter and receiver are mounted on separated platforms, so it has more agility in application. Contrasted with the conventional SAR system, such a spatial separation has several operational advantages which will enhance the signature of stealthy targets, increase the capability and reduce the vulnerability in both military and civil usages. As a new concept means which can spy and observe the ground from interspace, Bistatic SAR is becoming one of the hotspots in radar imaging technology in recent years.The geometry and echoed signal models of airborne Bistatic SAR on parallel flight configuration in broadside side-looking are introduced firstly. Based on these studies, the properties of Doppler and resolutions are analyzed and theoretical relationship between resolution and Bistatic SAR system parameters is suggested.The imaging algorithm of Bistatic SAR is discussed. The theory of RD algorithm and BP algorithm and the flow chart of Bistatic SAR is given, then the simulations of point and scene data results demonstrate the correctness and availability of the RD algorithm and BP algorithm. The result shows that the RD algorithm can only work on the classical two- order range model, BP algorithm is an accurate time field imaging algorithm, but it has great computation load and don't fit big scene imaging. a new parameter estimation method is present based on DCFT transform of the minimum entropy for chirp waveform, which can estimate Doppler centroid and Doppler frequency rate at the same time, then this method is verified validity by Simulation experiment and we image real Bistatic SAR data by RD algorithm.The motion error of Bistatic SAR is studied in this chapter. The model of motion error is given firstly, then the influence for the imaging of BP algorithm is gained by simulating the errors of platform velocity ,platform baseline and platform position which provides theory reference for motion parameters estimation of the real data imaging. At last, in the process of dealing with the real data using the BP algorithm, the time synchronization error compensation, motion parameters estimation is studied. The validity of the motion parameters estimation using image texture characteristic statistic of Bistatic SAR is analyzed.
