As the development of electric power in china, there is a great raise in the demand of kinds of electric motors. The YTM series three-phase asynchronous motors are broadly used in generator plants. The JS series electric motors which use grinders have been washed out and are gradually substituted by the YTM series. The YTM series electric motors work very well with good pull-in torque which unfailingly operates. The YTM series electric motors designed by our factory could take place of the imported ones and have widely future markets.In this paper, I will firstly introduce the background of design of the YTM series electric motors and explain the development of electric motors and the present conditions. Then I will abstract the advantages for product design.Secondly, in this paper, there will be a comparison for the electromagnetic plans for the YTM series. In the introduction of operational principle, it will give you an interpretation about the design thinking which firstly takes use of surface action, then input three different plans and out put three spare plans—scratch farrow, cast aluminum and double squirrel-cage, lastly chose the cast aluminum plans after general consideration. There are also two choices in the cast aluminum plans from which the best plan was chosen. Moreover, I will give a detailed explanation to the properties of our design, introducing it from the aspect of stator, rotor and insulation, and then do mechanical calculation, checking the calculation of the bearing intensity and flexivity.Last, with special consideration of the engineering practical characteristics, the dissertation sets up the discrete optimizing model for the middle induction motor, discusses the mathematical model and the solve method in detail for the optimization design of series electrical machines. An improved genetic algorithm based on the simulated annealing selection is proposed and successfully applied to the optimization design of YTM series induction motor.
