In recent several decades, as the development of auto industry, the safe testing technology of auto has also developed a lot. In so many testing items, vehicle headlamp is one of the most important electrical equipment when nighttime drive, which not only provide enough illumination, but also prevent driver's eyes from dazzle on the opposite. So it's very important to ensure the quality of vehicle headlamps.The safe testing of vehicle headlamps is actualized during auto test and vehicle headlamps' product line. They are based on the same theory, but with different modes. System discussed in this dissertation is the same with testing on product line.This is a special vehicle headlamp testing instrument integrated with technology of optics, mechanics, electronics and computer science, using CCD image sensor and video collection card as a group to collect the image of headlamp light, and using the technology of digital image process to get parameters of headlamp. To compare parameters we get with the standard image, it would tell whether this headlamp is eligible or not. During the process of testing, the vehicle headlamp could be adjusted to make it eligible. Besides, considering the condition restrict, a special testing mode is designed. By pressing only one button, vehicle headlamp can be adjusted and tested. It's rather convenient to operate with a high efficiency and accuracy.This dissertation consists of seven chapters. In the first chapter, the current circumstance and related technique are described, also the objective and task of this study are presented. The 2nd chapter introduces the basic theories of vehicle headlamps, and digital image process. The 3rd chapter presents the overall scheme that concerns about the design of the system's configuration, working mode, and the measurement method. In the 4th chapter, the hardware of this system is described with the different modules in detail, and the applicable methods to implement these functions are also issued. The 5th chapter introduces the design details of the test and control software under Visual C++. Those special functions were implemented bysoftware. The 6th chapter gives the process and mode of testing work based on the practical measurement experiment. The accuracy and precision of this system are also approved after a mass of experiments, which show that the performance of this instrument reach the predetermined technical demand and can be applied to the related industries. In the 7th chapter, the research work and related designs are summarized, and then some possible improvements are prospected so that more excellent performance of this system would be done.
