College Campus And Exterior Design Of The Study

This thesis is designated to study the outer space of modern campus with the application of interwoven theories such as Architecture,Urban Planning,Psychology,Environmental Behavior ,methods of Sociology and field surveys of typical outer spaces of campuses in Nanjing .This research is aimed to explore appropriate design measures of the outer space of modern campus.The paper is organized by two major clews,One is the theory of Human Behavior——with the emphasis on contents,types and characteristics of the behavior of undergraduates. The other is the theory of Outer Space which systematically classifies and studies the outer space of campus with a corresponding standard.Combining these theories and the field study results, confirmation and a better understanding of the theory are achieved. Four chapters for the thesis:Chapter One, Introduction is the part of raising questions.It includes the introduction of the domestic and foreign developing status of this subject,the purpose, the significance,the contents and the methodology of this study.It builds up the frame of the thesis. Chapter Two, The History of Campus Development is to summarize the domestic and foreign evolvement of campus space,and to characterize campus space in different periods. Chapter Three: The Constitution and Arrangements of the Outer Space in Modern Campus is the part of theory discussion focusing on the Human Behavior and the Outer Space aspects which leads to the characteristics of undergraduate behavior and the classification of outer space of campus.Chapter Four: The Analysis on Typical Cases and Project of the Outer Space of Modern Campus is designated to demonstrate the theory with specific cases.The field survey is carried out on campuses in Nanjing.A holistic analysis of each campus is followed by the discussion of various types of space and finally design points and suggestions by analyzing specific cases and project.
