Frequency is one of the important electric power qualityindexes. The active power of the generating sets in the powerplants have close link to the grid frequency. At present,the active power and primary frequency adjustment controlsystem, which used widely for the generating sets, werebasically developed from the imported 300MW units' controlsystem. This article analyzed the necessity of the activepower and primary frequency adjustment control, takenexamples of the 300MW units' control system, expatiated thetypical active power and primary frequency adjustmentcontrol configuration and working principles, and deeplyanalyzed the function of the devices and logic drawings. Inorder to meet the grid' s requirement for electric powerquality, redesigned and validated the active power andprimary frequency adjustment control of the generating setsbased on the latest regional standard. To guarantee thereliable running of the generating sets after the activepower and primary frequency adjustment control being putinto use, the article analyzed and demonstrated the relevantsafety measures accordingly.
