The primary frequency control capability of thermal power plant is vital to power system frequency control and avoiding cascading tripping caused by sudden change of load and generator outages. At present, as the basic unit of power net, the generating set needs further improved modulation quality and controlling safety of the primary frequency regulation. As the development of the computer technology, the steam turbine controlling system has changed from hydraulic pressure adjust to digital electrical hydraulic controlling system(DEH system).Further more, the unit coordinating controlling has been consummated and applied on the generating sets, which makes the unit primary frequency modulation under the original electrical hydraulic controlling mode unable to meet the requirement of the new situation.Firstly, this article studies the theory of the load control system in power plant and its various control modes, and bases on the methods of the primary frequency control in unit, establishing the models of the governor and prime mover in thermal power plant for primary frequency control, to solve the problem of the delay in boiler, It will integrate three methods of the feed-forward for boiler to compare the advantages and disadvantages among these methods in simulation.Secondly, with the simulation model, this article will analysis and compare the differences with different configurations and different parameters. And focus on how to fulfill the primary frequency modulation function with the unit of DEH and coordinating controlling, how to meet the power net's requirement for rapid primary frequency modulation of the generating sets, as well as keep the generating sets operate safely, bring the primary frequency modulation function into full play.And then, this article will use the GUI program to generate a platform to study the characteristics of primary frequency control in thermal power plant. It provides an efficient way to study the operation mode and data setting.At last, by using the simulation software, this article analysis the characteristics of primary frequency control when the generator is in a interconnected power grid.
